Laughing Kookaburra - Dacelo novaeguinea
It is called the laughing kookaburra due to it'd distinct lauging type call which is used to mark and claim territory rights. They 'laugh' out loud to let other Kookaburras know that they are in the area and lay claim to it.

This is the largest of the Kingfisher group. Found along the entire east-coast of Australia across to South Australia and in the south-western corner of Western Australia. Where I live in the outback  (Quorn Flinders Ranges) is the most norther area of South Australia that this bird is found.
It grows upto 45 cm and has bluish feather tips on its wings.

The Kookaburra lives in open forest and woodland areas and also in swampy areas.

Kookaburras eat fish, small reptiles, rodents (mice etc) worms and insects.

Kookaburras live in family groups.
